The weights of 11 students in a class are 36 kg, 45 kg, 44 kg, 37 kg, 36 kg, 41 kg, 45 kg, 43 kg, 39 kg, 42 kg and 40 kg. Find the median of their weights.
Solution
Arranging the given data in descending order:
45 kg, 45 kg, 44 kg, 43 kg, 42 kg, 41 kg, 40 kg, 39 kg, 37 kg, 36 kg, 36 kg;
The middle term is 41 kg which is 6th term
Therefore, Median of weights= 41 kg.
