tn = 2n − 5 in a sequence, find its first two terms

Solution

tn = 2n − 5     .......[Given]

∴ t1 = 2(1) – 5

= 2 – 5

= – 3

t2 = 2(2) – 5

= 4 – 5

= – 1

∴ The first two terms of the sequence are – 3 and – 1.
