Food storage and conservation of environment

1. Animals Store Food: Just like humans, animals also store food in different ways.

  • Ants collect and store food, bees collect nectar from flowers and store it as honey in a honeycomb and squirrels store seeds.
  • Animals store food so they have it available when they need it, especially during times when food is hard to find.

2. Plants Store Food:

  • Onions and garlic store food in their bulbs (parts of the plant’s stem).
  • Potatoes and ginger are tubers, which also store food in the stem.
  • Radishes, sweet potatoes, and beetroots store food in their roots.

3. Humans store food: We store food at home based on our needs so we have enough to eat later.

4. Food Production in India: With better farming methods, India produces more food than needed. The extra food is stored in large warehouses.

5. Why Storing Extra Grain is Important: In times of disasters like floods, droughts, or cyclones, stored food can be used to help people. It can also be given to people who lose their homes due to natural disasters like earthquakes.
