Given data: 5, 8, 10, 11,13, 16, 19 and 20
Here, number of data = 8 which is even
∴ Median =`1/2 {"n"/2 "th term" + ("n"/2 + 1)"th term"}`
`= 1/2 {8/2 "th term" + (8/2 + 1) "th term"}`
`= 1/2 {4 "th term" + 5 "th term"}`
`= 1/2 {11 + 13}`
`= 1/2 xx 24 = 12`
∴ Median = 12
Mean = `"Sum of observations"/"Number of observations"`
`= (5 + 8 + 10 + 11 + 13 + 16 + 19 + 20)/8`
`= 102/8 = 17.75`
