A bag contains 25 cards, numbered through 1 to 25. A card is drawn at random. What is the probability that the number on the card drawn is a perfect square?
Solution
Here n(S) = 25
E2 = Number on the card is a perfect square
= {1, 4, 9, 16, 25}
`\implies` n(E2) = 5
∴ P(E2) = `("n"("E"_2))/("n"("S"))`
= `5/25`
= `1/5`
