Question
A model of a ship is made with a scale factor of 1 : 500. Find
The deck area of the model, if the deck area of the ship is 1500000 m2
Solution
Scale:- 1 : 500
1 cm represents 500 cm = `500/100 = 5 "m"`
1 cm represents 5 m
1 cm2 represents 5m x 5m = 25 m2
Deck area of the ship = 1500000 m2
Deck area of the model = `1500000/25` cm2 = 60000 cm2
