Question
A room is 16 m long and 13.5 m broad. Find the cost of covering its floor with 75-m-wide carpet at ₹ 60 per metre.
Solution
As, the area of the floor =`"length"xx"breadth" `
=`16xx13.5`
=`216m^2`
And, the width of the carpet = 75 m
So, the length of the carpet required=`"Area of the floor"/"Width of the carpet"`
=`216/75`
=` 2.88 m`
Now, the cost of the carpet required=`2.88xx60=172.80`
Hence, the cost of covering the floor with carpet is `172.80`
