Question
A scooter travels 120 km in 3 hours and a train travels 120 km in 2 hours. Find the ratio of their speeds.
Solution
We know that, Speed = `"Distance"/"Time"`
∴ The speed of the scooter = `(120 km)/(3 "hours") = (40 km)/"hour"`
And the speed of the train = `(120 km)/(2 "hours") = (60 km)/"hour"`
Thus, the required ratio = `"Speed of the scooter"/"Speed of the train"`
= `((40 km)/"hour")/((60 km)/"hour") = 2/3` = 2:3
