Question
Check whether the following are quadratic equations: `(x - 3)^3 + 5 = x^3 + 7x^2 - 1`
Solution
`(x - 3)^3 + 5 = x^3 + 7x^2 - 1`
x3 - 3x2 x 3 + 3x x 9 - 27 + 5 = x3 + 7x2 - 1
-9x2 + 27x - 22 - 7x2 + 1 = 0
-16x2 + 27x - 21 = 0
⇒ 16x2 - 27x + 21 = 0
It is a quadratic equation.
