Question
Explain briefly, using a proper diagram, the difference in behaviour of a conductor and a dielectric in the presence of external electric field.
Solution
In conductor there is equal amount of induced electric field inside conductor, due to which net electric field is zero.
In case of dielectric, electric field induced inside in less than external electric field.
So there is net electric field inside dielectric.
