Question
Find the median of the following sets of numbers.
25, 11, 15, 10, 17, 6, 5, 12.
Solution
25, 11, 15, 10, 17, 6, 5, 12
Arranging the data in ascending order,
5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 15, 17, 25
Here N = 8
∴ `("N"/2)^"th"`term
= `(8/2)`
= 4th term
= 11
`("N" / 2 + 1)^"th"`term
= 4 + 1
= 5th term
= 12
∴ Median
= `(11 + 12)/(2)`
= `(23)/(2)`
= 11.5
Or
Median = 11.5.
