Question
One-fourth of a number added to two- seventh of it gives 135; find the number.
Solution
Let required number = x
∴ According to the sum,
`"x"/4 + 2/7"x" = 135`
`=> ("7x" + "8x")/28 = 135` ...(LCM of 4, 7 = 28)
`=> "15x"/28 = 135`
`=> "x" = (135 xx 28)/15`
⇒ x = 9 × 28 = 252
∴ Required number = 252
