Question

Solve: 2x + 20% of x = 12.1

Sum

Solution

2x + 20% of x = 12.1

⇒ 2x + `("x" xx (20))/100 = 12.1`

⇒ 2x + `"20x"/100 = 12.1`

⇒ 2x + `"2x"/10 = 12.1`

`("20x + 2x = 121")/10`

⇒ 22x = 121

⇒ x = `121/22 = 11/2`

∴ x = `11/2` or `5 1/2`
