Question

Solve: `("x" - 1)/5 - "x"/3 = 1 - ("x" - 2)/2`

Sum

Solution

`("x" - 1)/5 - "x"/3 = 1 - ("x" - 2)/2`

⇒ `(6"x" - 6 - 10"x" = 30 - 15"x" + 30)/30`

⇒ − 4x − 6 = 60 − 15x

⇒ 15x − 4x = 60 + 6

⇒ 11x = 66

⇒ x = `66/11`

∴ x = 6
