`"x"/2 + "x" = 9`

`"x"/2 + "x"/1 = 9`

`("x + 2x")/2 = 9`

⇒ x + 2x = 2 × 9 

⇒ 3x = 18

⇒  x = `18/3 = 6`

∴ x = 6
