Question
Solve the following:
`(0.2x + 5)/(3.5x - 3) = 2/5`
Solution
Given, `(0.2x + 5)/(3.5x - 3) = 2/5`
⇒ 5(0.2x + 5) = 2(3.5x – 3) ...[By cross-multiplication]
⇒ x + 25 = 7x – 6
⇒ x – 7x = – 6 – 25 ...[Transposing 7x to LHS and 25 to RHS]
⇒ – 6x = – 31
⇒ `(-6x)/(-6) = (-31)/(-6)` ...[Dividing both sides by – 6]
∴ `x = 31/6`
