Question
Which of the following sequences are in arithmetic progression?
`1/2, 1/3 , 1/4 , 1/5, ....`
Solution
`1/2, 1/3 , 1/4 , 1/5, ....`
`d_1 = 1/3 - 1/2`
= `(2 - 3)/6`
= `-1/6`
`d_2 = 1/4 - 1/3`
= `(3 - 4)/12`
= `-1/12`
Since d1 ≠ d2, the given sequence is not in arithmetic progression.
