= `(-1)/2[y^2/2 - y]_(-1)^1 + 1/2[y^2/2 - y]_1^3`
= `(-1)/2[(1/2 - 1) - (1/2 + 1)] + 1/2[(9/2 - 3) - (1/2 - 1)]`
= `(-1)/2 - [1/2 - 3/2] + 1/2[3/2 + 1/2]`
= `1/2[1/2 + 3/2 + 3/2 + 1/2]`
= `1/2[4]`
= 2 square units
