A hemispherical bowl of internal diameter 36 cm contains liquid. This liquid is filled into 72 cylindrical bottles of diameter 6 cm. Find the height of each bottle, if 10% liquid is wasted in this transfer.

Internal diameter of the bowl = 36 cm
Internal radius of the bowl, r = 18 cm
Volume of the liquid, V =(2/3)ЁЭЬЛr3 =(2/3)× ЁЭЬЛ × 183
Let the height of the small bottle be ‘h’.
Diameter of a small cylindrical bottle = 6 cm
Radius of a small bottle, R = 3 cm
Volume of a single bottle = ЁЭЬЛR2h = ЁЭЬЛ × 32 × h
No. of small bottles, n = 72
Volume wasted in the transfer =(10/100)×(2/3)× ЁЭЬЛ × 183
Volume of liquid to be transferred in the bottles

`=2/3xxpixx18^3-10/100xx2/3xxpixx18^3`

`=2/3xxpixx18^3(1-10/100)`

`=2/3xxpixx18^3xx90/100`

we know that volume of cylinder =`pir^2h` so we get

`72(pir^2h)=(2/3xxpixx18^3xx90/100)`

`72=(2/3xxpixx18^3xx90/100)/(pixx3^2xxh)`

`72=(2/3xx18^3xx9/10)/(3^2xxh)`

`h=(2/3xxpixx18xx18xx18xx9/10)/(pixx3^2xx72) `

h=5.4 cm
Height of the small cylindrical bottle = 5.4 cm

The sum of the radius of base and height of a solid right circular cylinder is 37 cm. If the total surface area of the solid cylinder is 1628 sq. cm, find the volume of the cylinder. `("use " pi=22/7)`

A vessel is in the form of a hollow hemisphere mounted by a hollow cylinder. The diameter of the hemisphere is 14 cm and the total height of the vessel is 13 cm. Find the inner surface area of the vessel. [Use `pi = 22/7`]

From a solid right circular cylinder of height 2.4 cm and radius 0.7 cm, a right circular cone of same height and same radius is cut out. Find the total surface area of the remaining solid.

The diameters of the lower and upper ends of a bucket in the form of a frustum of a cone are 10 cm and 30 cm respectively. If its height is 24 cm, find:

1) The area of the metal sheet used to make the bucket.

2) Why we should avoid the bucket made by ordinary plastic? [Use π = 3.14]

If the radius of the base of a right circular cylinder is halved, keeping the height the same, then the ratio of the volume of the cylinder thus obtained to the volume of original cylinder is:

A solid sphere of radius r is melted and cast into the shape of a solid cone of height r, the radius of the base of the cone is

A circus tent is cylindrical to a height of 4 m and conical above it. If its diameter is 105 m and its slant height is 40 m, the total area of the canvas required in m2 is

Water is flowing through a cylindrical pipe of internal diameter 2 cm, into a cylindrical tank of base radius 40 cm, at the rate of 0.4 m per second. Determine the rise in level of water in the tank in half an hour.

In a right circular cone, the cross-section made by a plane parallel to the base is a

A container opened at the top and made up of a metal sheet, is in the form of a frustum of a cone of height 16 cm with radii of its lower and upper ends as 8 cm and 20 cm respectively. Find the cost of milk which can completely fill the container, at the rate of тВ╣ 50 per litre. Also find the cost of metal sheet used to make the container, if it costs тВ╣ 10 per 100 cm2. (Take π = 3⋅14)
