Question
A road which is 7 m wide surrounds a circular park whose circumference is 352 m . Find the area of the road .
Solution
Width of the road = 7 m
circumference of the circular park = 352 m
`⇒ 2pir=352`
`⇒ r=352/2pi=56 m`
Area of the road = Area of the circular park including the path − area of the circular park
`=pi(r+7)^2-pir^2`
`=pi[(56+7)^2-(56)^2]`
`= pi[63^2-56^2]`
`=pi[7xx119]`
`= 2618 m^2`
