Question

Draw a tangent at any point ‘M’ on the circle of radius 3.3 cm and centre ‘O’.

Sum

Solution

Step-1: construct a circle of radius 3.3cm having center O

Step-2: consider a point M on the circle and construct a line segment passing through OM as OP

Step-3: keep the needle of the compass on point M and draw arcs on line segment OP on both sides of point M mark those points as x and y

Step-4: now keep the needle of compass on point X and take distance greater than XM in compass and draw an arc above point M

Step-5: without changing the distance in compass keep the needle on point Y and draw an arc above point M intersecting the previous arc, name that intersection point as A

Step-6: now construct a line ‘n’ passing through points A and M

The line n is required tangent to circle at point M
