y = 5x - 4
Corresponding values of x and y can be tabulated as follows :

Plotting the points (0, - 4), (2, 6) and (-1, -9),
We get the following graph :
From the graph, we find that
a. When y = 1, x = 1.
b. When x = -2, y = -14
