In triangle ABC, AB > AC and D is a point inside BC.
Show that: AB > AD.

Solution


Given that, AB > AC
⇒ ∠C > ∠B                   ...(i)
Also in ΔADC
∠ADB = ∠DAC + ∠C    ...[ Exterior angle ]
⇒ ∠ADB > ∠C 
⇒ ∠ADB > ∠C > ∠B     ...[ From(i) ] 
⇒ ∠ADB > ∠B  
⇒ AB > AD.
