Question
The sum of the radii of two circles is 140 cm and the difference of their circumferences in 88 cm. Find the diameters of the circles.
Solution
Let radius of circles be ๐1๐๐๐ ๐2
Given sum of radius = 140cm
๐1 + ๐2 = 140 โฆ..(i)
difference in circumferences = 88 ๐๐
2 ร ๐1 โ 2๐๐2 = 88
(๐๐)๐๐ (๐) โ
โ 2๐2 = 126
โ ๐2 =
๐2 = 63๐๐๐ ๐๐ (๐๐) ๐1 = 63 + 14 = 77 ๐๐๐
Diameter of circle (i) = 2๐1 = 2 ร 77 = 154 ๐๐๐
Diameter of circle (ii) = 2๐2 = 2 ร 63 = 126 ๐๐๐
