Question

Find the ratio of the curved surface areas of two cones if their diameters of the bases are equal and slant heights are in the ratio 4 : 3.

Solution

Given that,
Diameter of two cones area equal

∴ Their radius are equal

Let` r_1=r_2=r`

Let ratio be x

∴ `"Slant height l_1= of 1^st cone =4x"`

`"Similarly slant height l_2 of 2^nd cone=3x."`

∴ `(C.S.A_1)/(C.S.A_2)=(pir_1l_1)/(pir_2l^2)=(pixxrxx4x)/(pixxrxx3x)=4/3`
