Bigger and Smaller Numbers
Determining the Smaller or Bigger Number:
We will examine the numbers in the lakhs place. If those are equal, we determine the smaller or larger number by looking at the ten-thousand place, and so forth. Additionally, we might be able to simply, by counting the number of digits in each number, determine which number is larger.
Number Comparison :
When we have two numbers or quantities to compare, then we use three basic symbols, which are:
- Equal to (=)
- Greater than symbol (>)
- Less than symbol (<)
The “equal to” symbol is used to represent two equal numbers or quantities, such as:
5,705 = 5,705.
The “greater than” symbol is used to show if a number is greater than another number.
For example,
22,74,705 > 12,74,705 [ 22,74,705 is greater than 12,74,705].
The “less than” symbol is used when a number or quantity is less than another.
For example,
5,705 < 15,705 [5,705 is less than 15,705].
