Question

Draw two concentric circles of radii 2 cm and 3 cm. From a point on the outer circle, construct a pair of tangents to the inner circle.

Solution

Steps of Construction:

  1. Draw a circle with a radius of 2 cm and a centre of O.
  2. Draw another circle with a radius of 3 cm and a centre of O.
  3. Take a point P on the circumference of the larger circle and join P to O.
  4. Now, take OP as the diameter and draw another circle which intersects the smaller circle at two points let's say A and B.
  5. Join A to P and B to P.
Hence, the required tangents are AP and BP.
