Question
ABCD is a parallelogram having an area of 60cm2. P is a point on CD. Calculate the area of ΔAPB.
Solution
ar(ΔAPB) = `(1)/(2) xx "ar"`(parallelogram ABCD)
(The area of a triangle is half that of a parallelogram on the same base and between the same parallels)
ar(ΔAPB) = `(1)/(2) xx 60"cm"^2`
ar(ΔAPB) = 30cm2.
