Co-ordination:

Coordination is essential for the smooth functioning of different organ systems in multicellular organisms. These systems must work together effectively in response to internal and external stimuli to ensure the proper regulation of life processes.

  • Control refers to the systematic regulation of various processes, while coordination ensures these processes occur in the correct sequence.
  • For any activity in the body to be completed successfully, all the organs and systems involved must work in harmony. A lack of coordination or confusion at any step can disrupt the activity and prevent its completion.
  • Proper coordination is also needed to manage internal factors like body temperature, water levels, and enzyme levels, as well as to respond to stimuli from the surrounding environment.
  • This coordination helps maintain a balanced state called homeostasis, which is essential for the body to function efficiently and stay healthy.
