Question

In a circle of radius 21 cm, an arc subtends an angle of 60° at the centre. Find the length of the arc.  (Use π = `22/7`)

Sum

Solution

Radius of the circle (r) = 21 cm

Angle subtended by the given arc = 60°

Length of the arc of the sector having angle = `theta/(360^circ) xx 2pi"r"`

= `(60°)/(360°) xx 2pi(21)`

= `1/6 xx 2 xx 22/7 xx 21`

= `1/6 xx 2 xx 22 xx 3`

= 22 cm
