Structure of Soil:

The structure of soil refers to how the particles in the soil are arranged or grouped together. These particles can come in different shapes, such as columnar (tall and thin), laminar (flat and layered), granular (small and round), and block-shaped structures.

Importance of Soil Structure:

  • The structure of the soil plays a big role in how fertile it is. Good soil structure helps plants grow better.
  • When the soil structure is good, plant roots get enough oxygen from the air spaces between the particles, which helps them stay healthy.
  • A good soil structure allows water to drain well, meaning the soil doesn’t stay waterlogged. This is important for the roots, as they can get enough water without being soaked for too long, helping them grow properly.
