The Effects of Smoking

  1. Smoking over a long time allows toxic substances to collect in the respiratory tract (the parts of the body that help us breathe).
  2. The air that enters the lungs is not properly cleaned, and the impurities start to collect in the lungs.
  3. This reduces the efficiency of the lungs and makes it harder for them to work properly. The chance of getting lung diseases increases.
  4. Solid particles from tobacco smoke form a sticky layer inside the alveoli (tiny air sacs in the lungs where oxygen is absorbed).
  5. Smoking reduces oxygen going into the body, making it harder to breathe. Toxic substances from tobacco also enter the alveoli, causing damage.
  6. Smoking can lead to serious respiratory diseases, including dangerous conditions like lung cancer.

Passive Smoking:

  1. Passive smoking happens when we breathe in smoke from others who are smoking around us, even if we don’t smoke ourselves.
  2. Second-hand smoke can still harm our lungs and health, just like actual smoking.
  3. Passive smoking can cause the same lung problems and diseases as direct smoking, such as breathing difficulties and lung diseases.
  4. To protect everyone, especially non-smokers, there is now a ban on smoking in public places like parks, restaurants, and buses.
  5. This helps make sure that people are not forced to breathe in harmful smoke from others around them.
