Protecting our environment

Just like we need laws for fairness in society, we also need laws to protect the environment. We rely on nature for many things we need, like food, water, and air. It's important to make sure natural resources are available for people in the future. We need to save and protect natural resources so they don’t run out. We must use nature's resources wisely and not waste them to keep the environment healthy.

• Not just roads and buildings, but all the things we use or consume, such as food, clothes, books, toys, furniture, tools, and vehicles, are obtained from resources on this earth.
• The only thing we get from outside is energy, which we receive from the Sun. Before we use it, the earth's various physical and chemical processes and living things process even this energy.
• We need to use our natural resources carefully because they are not unlimited. With the human population increasing at a tremendous rate due to improvements in health care, the demand for all resources is increasing at an exponential rate.
• Managing natural resources requires a sustainable approach to ensure they last for future generations rather than being overused for immediate benefits.
• For example, mining causes pollution because a large amount of slag is discarded for every tonne of metal extracted.
• Hence, sustainable natural resource management demands that we plan to dispose of these wastes safely.
