Importance of Accurate Measurement:

Accurate measurement is important because it ensures the correct quantity of a substance is measured, depending on its purpose. For example, when measuring small amounts of valuable items like gold or in important situations like sports competitions, very precise devices are needed. Standardisation ensures that the amount of a product, like petrol or groceries, matches what is being claimed (e.g., litres of petrol). This is done by comparing the measurement device to a known standard from time to time.

Major Causes of Errors in Measurement:

  1. Using the wrong device: If the device is not suitable for the type of measurement, errors will occur.
  2. Not using the device properly: Improper use of a measurement tool can lead to mistakes.
