India has made impressive progress in space science, especially in developing launch vehicles. It has built different types of launchers capable of placing satellites weighing up to 2500 kg into various orbits. Two major launch vehicles are PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle) and GSLV (Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle).

  • These advancements support national growth in communication, education, and weather forecasting.
  • INSAT and GSAT satellites provide TV, internet, and telecom services across the country.
  • EDUSAT supports educational services.
  • IRS satellites help in natural resource monitoring and disaster management.
  • IRNSS provides accurate location data within India.
