Representation of integers on a number line:

The point on a number line which is marked 0 is called the origin. On the left and right of 0, points are marked at equal distances. The numbers shown by points on the right are positive numbers and those shown by points on the left are negative numbers.

Example

Represent the following numbers on a number line: - 8.

The Representation of - 8 on the number line:

To mark (- 8) we have to move - 8 points to the left of zero.

Example

Represent the following numbers on a number line: 6.

The Representation of 6 on the number line:

To mark 6 we have to move 6 points to the right of zero.
