Interpreting Percentages:

To understand the interpretation of the percentage we may consider the following examples,

1) 5% of the income is saved by Ravi.

⇒ By 5% we mean 5 parts out of 100 or we write it as `5/100`.
It means Ravi is saving Rs. 5 out of every Rs. 100 that he earns.

2) Rekha gets 10% on every book sold by her.

⇒ By 10% we mean 10 parts out of 100 or we write it as `10/100`.
It means Rekha gets Rs. 10 out of every Rs. 100 on every book sold by her.
