Fruit:

Fruits are the part of a plant that grows from the flower and contains seeds. We eat many types of fruits that come in different shapes, colours, and tastes. Each fruit has a fleshy part and seeds inside or outside, like in mango or cashew.

Seeds are divided into two main types:

  1. Dicot Seeds: These seeds split into two equal parts. For example: pea, groundnut.
  2. Monocot Seeds: These seeds do not split into two parts and remain whole. For example: wheat, rice.
Type of Fruit Description Example
Pome A fruit with a fleshy part surrounding a core with seeds. Apple, Pear
Drupe A fleshy fruit with a hard pit or stone inside that contains the seed. Mango, Peach, Cherry
Berry A fleshy fruit where seeds are embedded in the flesh, often soft. Tomato, Grapes, Banana
Aggregate Fruit Formed from multiple ovaries of one flower, resulting in many small fruitlets joined together. Strawberry, Raspberry
Legume A fruit that splits open along two sides when mature to release seeds. Peas, Beans
