Transfer of Heat

Transfer of heat:

When a hot object is placed near a cold object, the cold object becomes warm and the hot object cools down. This shows that heat always flows from the hot object to the cold object.

  • Heat transfer means the movement of heat energy from one place or object to another.
  • Heat always flows from a hot body to a cold body until both objects reach the same temperature (equilibrium).

For example,

  • Holding a hot cup of tea warms your hands.
  • A spoon left in hot soup becomes warm after a while.
