Availability of Water:

  1. Seas and Oceans (97% of Earth's water): The large blue section in the diagram represents the seas and oceans. This is almost all the water on Earth, but it is not drinkable due to its salt content.
  2. Ice Caps and Glaciers (2.7% of Earth's water): The small red segment in the diagram indicates water that is frozen, located at the North and South Poles and within glaciers. This water is also not available for us to use directly because it is solid ice.
  3. Water Available for Drinking (0.3% of Earth's water): The green segment, although very small, is the most important for us. This represents freshwater that we can use for drinking, cooking, and washing. This includes water from rivers, lakes, and underground (groundwater).

Available water on earth Percentage
Seas, Oceans 97%
Ice Caps and Glaciers 2.7%
Water available for drinking (freshwater) 0.3%
Total 100%
