Introduction of Contact Force:

This is the type of force that acts when two objects come into physical contact. The force can be a push, pull, or lift, and it only works when there is direct contact between the objects or through an intermediary object.

Various Actions

In these three different situations,

  1. A Car Being Pushed: A car moves forward when a person pushes it from behind. The man uses his strength to push the car, and the force he applies makes the car move.
  2. A Dog Being Pulled: When a dog does not want to walk, the owner pulls it forward using a leash. Here, the owner applies force to move the dog, even though the dog resists.
  3. A Boy Kicking a Football: When a boy kicks a football, he uses his leg muscles to apply force to the ball, causing it to move or fly away.

In all these situations, a force is applied to move or change the motion of an object. Importantly, the force comes from direct physical contact between the objects. This means that one object physically touches or interacts with another to apply force.

Types of Contact Force:

  1. Muscular Force: This is the force used by our muscles or the muscles of animals like bullocks, horses, and camels to do work.
  2. Mechanical Force: The force created by machines to do tasks.
  3. Frictional Force: This force happens between two surfaces in contact. It slows down or stops the movement of one surface sliding over the other.
