All living things, including plants, animals, and humans, need water to survive. Water is a universal solvent and can dissolve many substances, which helps in mixing and transporting nutrients in our bodies and in nature.

  • Water exists in all three states and can be found as a solid (ice), liquid (water), or gas (steam), making it available in many forms.
  • Water freezes at 0°C and boils at 100°C, which makes it easy to use for everyday purposes like drinking, cooking, and cleaning.
  • Most of the Earth’s surface is water, including oceans, lakes, and rivers, which support a wide range of life forms.
  • Crops need water to grow, making it important for producing food.
  • Drinking enough water keeps our body functioning properly, preventing dehydration.
  • It has a pH of 7, meaning it's neither acidic nor basic, making it safe for most living organisms.
  • It breaks down food in our stomach, helps our body absorb nutrients and also helps the body get rid of waste through urine and sweat.
