Acharya Maharishi Kanad (6th Century B.C.) Democritus (5th Century B.C.)
  1. Kanad was an Indian philosopher who lived in the 6th century B.C.
  2. He suggested that matter can only be divided into smaller pieces up to a certain point.
  3. Beyond this point, matter cannot be divided any further, and these smallest, indivisible particles are called “paramanu.”
  4. Kanad believed that paramanu are the fundamental building blocks of matter and are indestructible.

  2. He proposed that matter is made up of extremely small particles that cannot be divided.

  4. Democritus believed that atoms are the smallest units that make up all matter and cannot be further divided.
