Introduction:
Fossil fuels are natural energy sources, such as coal, oil, and natural gas, that were formed millions of years ago from the remains of plants and animals. Over time, these remains were buried under layers of rock and subjected to heat and pressure, which transformed them into the fuels we use today for energy.
Uses of Natural Resources:
- Living things, including humans, use resources like land, water, and air from the Earth.
- Compared to the total amount of resources available, living things only use a small portion of them.
Proportions of Resources Available:
Land | 29% |
---|---|
Potable water / fresh water | 0.3% |
Oxygen | 21% |
- Conserving Resources: Even though these resources are available in small amounts, they are still enough for all living beings. It is important to use natural resources wisely, understanding that they are not just for one species but for all living creatures on Earth.
- Judicious Use of Resources: They must be used carefully to protect Earth’s resources for future generations. Overuse or waste of these resources can harm the planet and all living things that depend on them.
