Effects of Light:

Light is made up of several colours. When a beam of sunlight enters a room through a small window, dust particles floating in the air become visible within the light. This makes the beam of light noticeable.

  • In thick fog, car headlights reveal beams because tiny particles in the air scatter the light. Similarly, the morning and evening skies display a variety of colours due to the scattering of sunlight.
  • The Earth appears bluish in satellite photographs because the atmosphere scatters blue light from the sun more than other colours, giving the Earth its blue appearance from space. These effects are all caused by the way light interacts with particles and the atmosphere.
