Disease | Reasons of Infection | Symptoms | Diagnosis/Treatment |
---|---|---|---|
Swine Flu | Spread through pigs and humans. Virus transmitted via secretions from the nose, throat, and saliva. |
Difficulty breathing. Sore throat, body pain. |
Diagnosis: Testing throat liquid in labs. Facilities: NIV Pune, NICD Delhi. |
Rabies | Spread through bites of infected animals (dogs, cats, monkeys). The virus reaches the brain via neurons. |
Fever (2–12 weeks). Behavioural changes. Hydrophobia (fear of water). |
Timely vaccination prevents death. Symptoms appear 90–175 days post-bite. |
Dengue | Spread by Aedes aegypti mosquito. Mosquitoes breed in waterlogged places. Caused by DEN-1 to 4 flaviviruses. |
Acute fever, headache, vomiting. Eye socket pain. Low platelet count, risk of internal bleeding. |
Prevention: Avoid mosquito bites and eliminate breeding areas. Supportive care as needed. |
